Paul is concerned about how we relate to those outside this church. How are we to live toward them? These two verses show that Paul expected church members to do the same kind of evangelistic work as he does. Paul did not expect Christians to leave evangelism to the professionals. He did not want the Colossians to leave the soul-winning to him and the other apostles. Instead, he called all of them to become his co-workers in declaring the word of Christ.
