The Effects of Yahweh’s Grace

Title: The Effects of Yahweh’s Grace

Passage: Exodus 34:10-17

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Martin

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: March 24, 2019

In the beginning of Exodus 34, God told Moses to make two new tablets. this is a signal really for what will follow in chapters 34-35:3. At the core of Exodus 34 is a reestablishment of the covenant God gave in Exodus 20-23 and ratified in chapter 24. Verses 6-7 are crucial. But they are part of a bigger picture in this passage related to the covenant, which still hangs in the balance. This passage shows the effects of God’s grace. As the text continues, we begin to understand more the relationship of God’s grace to his dealings with Israel.

The Blood Of The Covenant (Worship Service, August 26th, 2018)

Title: The Blood Of The Covenant

Passage: Exodus 24: 1-8

Our text draws our attention to the blood of the covenant. It is crucial to this account, and Moses’s words direct our gaze right at it: Behold, the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you. As important were the words of the covenant, Yahweh’s words to the people, and the people’s words back, the blood is especially significant. What do we learn from the blood of the covenant in this passage?

Passage: Exodus 20:18-26

As we went through the commandments, we found again and again our need of forgiveness. God’s standards are high and holy. When we measure ourselves against God’s standard, we find that we have missed the mark. We are sinners. The Israelites knew this as well, so they drew away and stood far off. If you have ever felt unworthy to draw near to God, this passage is for you. We sinners must draw near to God. But how?

A Kingdom of Priests (Worship Service, February 4th, 2018)

Title: A Kingdom of Priests

Passage: Exodus 19: 1-18

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Martin

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: February 4th, 2018

Exodus 19–24 is one of the most important passages of the Old Testament and entire scriptures. The covenant God makes with Israel in these chapters becomes the framework through which the great majority of the Old Testament is to be understood.

Our passage is really about God. He is a God of manifold grace, and that grace is seen in the covenant of Sinai. The text makes clear that what happens at Sinai represents his glorious desire for his chosen people. When we pause to look at how God is treating his people in Exod 19, we ought to be ready to proclaim the excellencies of this God who graciously cuts covenants with mankind.
