Micah ends his prophecy with a beautiful hymn to the glory of God. He begins, Who is a God like you? The point is that Yahweh is God alone and is most glorious. What is it about God that makes him so glorious?

The third chapter of Micah ends with the bad news of God’s judgement upon Israel for their sins. God is not only going to bring judgement, however. The message of Micah 4 is that, in times of sin and idolatry, God’s people should nevertheless hope in Yahweh’s kingdom reign.

In chapter 3, Micah turns to the heads of Israel exposing them as men who abuse their authority in scandalous ways, and promising judgement for their sin. They are wicked shepherds. The chapter has three distinct sections of four verses each. In each case, Micah describes the ways in which the leaders abused their authority., and then what the consequences are.

The book written by the prophet Micah contains three distinct sections or oracles: chapters 1-2, 3-5, and 6-7. The main message of Micah’s first oracle is that, while God will bring the judgment of exile, salvation is available to those who by grace believe in Yahweh.
