Second Adam from Above (Worship Service, June 12, 2016)

Title: Second Adam from Above

Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:44b-49

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Martin

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: June 12th 2016

In vv. 44b-49, the Holy Spirit wants us to understand how the risen Christ gloriously saves us by his grace for our future eternal life. It is not just that we will be saved for eternal bliss, but Jesus is the only one that can do this for us. How does Christ gloriously save us by his grace for our future eternal life? Paul gives three ways:
1.The risen Christ will bestow full Spiritual life (vv. 44-46).
2.The risen Christ will fit us for heavenly life (vv. 47-48).

How are the Dead Raised? Part 3 (Worship Service, June 5, 2016)

Title: How are the dead Raised? Part 3

Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:35-44

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Martin

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: June 5th 2016

Some in Corinth had denied the resurrection of the dead. In answer to the doubting questions of those who objected to Christian teaching, Paul shows that the same people who doubt the resurrection for its physical imponderables are those who accept in creation very near to the resurrection. He is urging us take God at his Word, and to do so especially concerning the resurrection.

How are the Dead Raised? Part 2 (Worship Service, May 29, 2016

Title: How are the dead Raised? Part 2

Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:35-49

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Martin

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: May 29th 2016

We must take God at his Word concerning the resurrection. The two
questions Paul poses in v. 35 are given in the voice of a skeptic:
Nevertheless, Paul defends the resurrection against such doubt. Such
an apologetic both silences the hardened skeptic and strengthens the
confused saint. Paul gives four reasons for us to trust God.
Last week:
1. The God who will raise us is all-powerful (34b).
2. The skepticism that doubts God comes from foolish evil (35-36a)
3. God’s power in creation is analogous to our resurrection (36b-41)
a. We are raised after death as the seed is raised after death.
b. We are raised by God’s power as the plant from the seed.
This week
c. God is sovereign over the resurrection as he is the creation.
d. Earthly bodies differ, as ours then will from ours now.
e. Heavenly bodies are above earthly, as ours then will from ours now.
f. Heavenly bodies differ from each other, as we will then.
4. Jesus Christ’s resurrection teaches us what form our own resurrection will take (42-49).

The Practical Christian Life (Without The Resurrection) Part 2 (Worship Service, May 15 2016)

Title: The Practical Christian Life (Without the Resurrection) Part 2

Passage: 1 Corinthians 15:29-34

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Martin

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: May 15th 2016

Affirming the resurrection has great effects on our life as believers. The reality of our resurrection ought to effect profoundly the way you live your life. If you truly believe that the living Jesus Christ will raise your dead bodies, you will live differently than if you didn’t believe this. In our passage, Paul suggests three ways.

Last week:

  1. We Die in Baptism (v. 29)
  1. We Die in Ministry (vv. 30-31a)

This Week:

  1. We Die to Sin (vv. 31b-34a)
