In this passage, Luke introduces the preaching and teaching ministry of Jesus. He does not emphasize Jesus’ miracles, but draws our attention to his teaching. To do this, he chooses an episode form Jesus’ ministry in Galilee, when he came to his hometown of Nazareth. I want you to notice three aspects of Christ’s ministry:

Last week

  1. The Spirit’s Power upon Jesus’ teaching (vv 14-15)
  2. The Messianic Anointing for Jesus’ Teaching (vv 16-21)

This Week

3. The Familiar Rejection of Jesus’ Teaching (vv 22-30)
