One New Man in Place of the Two (Ephesians 2:11-22)

Title: One New Man in Place of the Two

Passage: Ephesians 2: 11-22

Speaker: Pastor Michael Riley

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: August 30, 2020

Ephesians 2 divides neatly into two sections. Each presents our salvation as a problem that is solved in Jesus Christ. By far, the first half is the most familiar to believers today. Ephesians 2:1-10 tells us that we were once dead in our sins, but in Christ, we have been made alive. But Ephesians 2:11-22 presents a second way of speaking about salvation: we were once cut off from the people of God. For most this is simply a problem they do not consider at all. We must, then, attend Paul’s argument with care, so that we might have a fuller, more grateful understanding of the of the salvation we have received in Christ.

Toward Outsiders(Colossians 4:5-6)

Title: Toward Outsiders

Passage: Colossians 4:5-6

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Martin

Service: Sunday Morning Worship Service

Date: August 23, 2020

Paul is concerned about how we relate to those outside this church. How are we to live toward them? These two verses show that Paul expected church members to do the same kind of evangelistic work as he does. Paul did not expect Christians to leave evangelism to the professionals. He did not want the Colossians to leave the soul-winning to him and the other apostles. Instead, he called all of them to become his co-workers in declaring the word of Christ.
