Beginning in v 9, Paul shifts gears. when he prayed for the Colossians, his prayers were filled with thanksgivings. he also filled his prayers with petitions for the Colossians. Col 1:9-14 are Paul’s prayer requests. The central idea is found in the first part of v 10; so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him. At the core of Paul’s prayer is that the church members in Colossae live lives worthy of the grace of Jesus. This is a prayer for their sanctification.
